Catching Up

I can't believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone, but I am proud to say that my shopping is done, my presents are wrapped, my Christmas tree is up, and my lights are hung....and for that I am thankful.

I am also Thankful for my family. My family means the world to me. This Thanksgiving I am especially thankful for my Grandpa Hansen. My grandpa just turned 80 years old this summer and last Monday he had to have surgery to correct 8 aortic aneurysms. My grandpa is such a great guy. He has always been there for me and loves all of us so much. Also, the way that my grandpa loves my grandma is amazing. I didn't know that two people could be so in love with each other. I am so grateful that the surgery went well and that Grandpa can be with us a lot longer.
Here are some pictures of Thanksgiving at the Larsen's (which was held today due to the birth of my new nephew Tyler Larsen who was born on the 25th...Congrats Kenny and Elisha)

Tyce making his funny fish face at his daddy.....what a cute kid!!

Every year, after Thanksgiving dinner, we all (yes even the adults)make our own Christmas Stocking. They turn out really dumb, but it is fun for the kids to do. Kyle's mom actually hangs them all up too. I would just die if I had to hang 25 glitter glued stockings in my house....Glad they stay there!!

Me and Kade diligently working on our stockings (Kade is really into this can't you tell)

My cute little Tycee Wycee!!

This morning before dinner we put up our Christmas tree and yes...its fake!! I have NEVER had a fake tree, but this year I decided to give it a try. I decorated the tree with all of Kade's toy cows, horses, and tractors. I added my kids old cowboy boots, ropes, barb wire, and barn stars to make the cutest cowboy tree ever. I did miss going up on the mountain to cut a tree and the smell of a fresh cut tree, but I just put Christmas Tree scent in my candle warmer and then it was perfect.

Kade thought that it was pretty cool that we would put a tree up in our house. He also had fun helping his dad drill holes in the tops of the tractors.

Finally, I decided to add this picture of Tyce. The other day, we decided to go fishing again. This time, Tyce and I stayed in the truck because it was freezing outside. This is Tyce chilling (literally) in the truck waiting for dad to catch a few fish.

Tyce is getting so big. I can't believe that he will be turning 1 soon. He has started walking and I can't wait to get it on camera so that I can post it. He's my little sweetie pie!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope that you had a great holiday!

Fishing Fun

The other day, we decided to take the kids fishing up Ferron Moutain. It was such a pretty drive. We ended up seeing a bunch of deer and a few bull elk. We also caught some really pretty fish. The kids had fun until they got cold.

Our Saturday Adventure

Kyle had to work all weekend so me and my sisters decided to take the kids for a fun day in Price. We first went to Sheralds to get some lunch and some ice cream. Then we went to the Dino Mine Park which is so much fun! The kids had a ball and played for like 2 hours. Then to finish the afternoon we took the kids to see Madagascar. This was the first time that I have ever really taken Kade to the movies and he did...okay. He kept saying "mom its over now, we can go." 2 hours in a movie theater was kind of hard for him, but he made it to the end. The movie was DUMB!!!! Okay, It wasn't that bad. It just reminded me A LOT of The Lion King. All in all, it was a fun day.

The BIG game

A few weeks ago the High School Volleyball team challenged the faculty to a volleyball game. Anyway, the game was set for Friday so we had a week to prepare. The entire week we went to practices at 7:00am so that we could beat those little punks (well at least give them a challenge, they ended up being State Champions). Little did I know how fun it would actually be. Practices were great....I don't think that I have ever laughed so hard. Yes, I had to leave my house at 6:15am for the entire week, but it was worth it.
Anyway, the game was hilarious. We all wore the same shirts and we had the coach announce our names as we ran through a sheet of paper. The entire school came to watch (K-12) and it was funny because all of the elementary students were cheering for us, and all of the JH/HS students were cheering for the team. The best part about the game was our cheerleader. Rena is our 50 year old attendance secretary who is SO great! She came dressed in a black skirt and had pom poms. She also had the letter P sewed all over her clothes. She went around cheering with a mega phone the whole time! It was great!!
We ended up losing to the varsity and winning the JV, put it was seriously the most fun I have had at school for a long time. "GO PANTHER FACULTY!!"

Herding the Cows down to the Desert

Can I just say that I LOVE this time of year. I love herding the cows down on the desert, it is so much fun. My dad used to tell us all kinds of stories about his rides on the desert, and I think that is why I love it so much. Last year I was unable to attend the ride because I was 8 months pregnant with Tyce. This is the first trip that I have been on since my dad died. It made me miss him so much! I remembered all of the great times we had out on the desert like camping, swimming in hidden holes, and chasing wild burrows.
I am sure that my dad was along for the ride today and that made it even better.

So we start at the farm, and we take the cows on a 6 hour trek across the desert were they stay for the winter. Then about every two weeks we go and check on them to make sure that they are getting water and that they are getting enough food. Our cows also calve out of the desert, so we have to check on them a lot to make sure that they don't have trouble calving. Fun huh!!
