The BIG game

A few weeks ago the High School Volleyball team challenged the faculty to a volleyball game. Anyway, the game was set for Friday so we had a week to prepare. The entire week we went to practices at 7:00am so that we could beat those little punks (well at least give them a challenge, they ended up being State Champions). Little did I know how fun it would actually be. Practices were great....I don't think that I have ever laughed so hard. Yes, I had to leave my house at 6:15am for the entire week, but it was worth it.
Anyway, the game was hilarious. We all wore the same shirts and we had the coach announce our names as we ran through a sheet of paper. The entire school came to watch (K-12) and it was funny because all of the elementary students were cheering for us, and all of the JH/HS students were cheering for the team. The best part about the game was our cheerleader. Rena is our 50 year old attendance secretary who is SO great! She came dressed in a black skirt and had pom poms. She also had the letter P sewed all over her clothes. She went around cheering with a mega phone the whole time! It was great!!
We ended up losing to the varsity and winning the JV, put it was seriously the most fun I have had at school for a long time. "GO PANTHER FACULTY!!"

Herding the Cows down to the Desert

Can I just say that I LOVE this time of year. I love herding the cows down on the desert, it is so much fun. My dad used to tell us all kinds of stories about his rides on the desert, and I think that is why I love it so much. Last year I was unable to attend the ride because I was 8 months pregnant with Tyce. This is the first trip that I have been on since my dad died. It made me miss him so much! I remembered all of the great times we had out on the desert like camping, swimming in hidden holes, and chasing wild burrows.
I am sure that my dad was along for the ride today and that made it even better.

So we start at the farm, and we take the cows on a 6 hour trek across the desert were they stay for the winter. Then about every two weeks we go and check on them to make sure that they are getting water and that they are getting enough food. Our cows also calve out of the desert, so we have to check on them a lot to make sure that they don't have trouble calving. Fun huh!!

Our Pumpkin Carving Party

Last night we had the annual Larsen Pumpkin Carving Party. The party was actually a lot of fun. Kyle's mom made some witches brew with the kids and we had chilli and all kinds of different pumpkin treats. The kids had a blast playing with each other and helping out with the carving. Thanks Ashley for having us a great party!

Happy Birthday Mom

Today we celebrated my mom's 55th birthday with a picnic out on the desert. We all had fun visiting with each other and the kids had a blast playing in the dirt and climbing the rocks. The weather was so great too. We didn't even need our jackets. It was the perfect end to our long weekend. Back to work tomorrow!

Husband Tag

Husband Tag

1. Where did you meet your husband? Well, Kyle and I went to High School together so I knew him, but we never did anything together until he randomly moved to Logan one day which is where I was going to college. He ended up moving in across the street from me in a house full of my Emery County guy friends.

2. How long did you date before you got married? 4 months until we were engaged, married 3 1/2 months after that.

3. How long have you been married? 5 1/2 years.

4. What does he do that surprises you? He's not really romantic and he never surprises me. Someday I might not have to hint that I would like to go out on a date.

5. What is your favorite feature of his? His smile, his laugh, and he has a really nice butt!

6. What is his best quality? He is a super great dad. He is so good at it because he is so much fun and he is really quite patient.

7. Does he have a nickname for you? Not really

8. What is his favorite food? Steak! Kyle could eat a steak everyday. Like Jeff, Kyle will eat anything though, he always says "whatever fills the void".

9. What is his favorite sport? Riding dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, or any other off-road vehicle with a motor.

10. When and where did you first kiss? At my friends cabin. We were all staying there for the weekend and everyone else had gone to sleep. Kyle (across for the date that he brought) leaned over and asked me if I wanted to make-out. So we did....and the rest is history!

11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Ride horses together or ride 4-wheelers together. We like being outdoors.

12. Do you have any children? Yes, Kade and Tyce

13. Does he have any hidden talents? Kyle can fix anything. He is a great mechanic. He can also weld anything....he is quite impressive.

15. Who said 'I love you first'? He did. I met him at his work to bring him dinner and when he got out of the car he said "love ya" and I said, "are you serious?"

16. What is his favorite music? Metallica and Willie Nelson (quite the combination huh)!

17. What do you admire most about him? He genuinely cares about people and he treats them all with respect. He would be every ones best friend if they wanted. He is also so easy going. He will do almost anything and not complain.

18. What is his favorite color? Black

19. Will he read this? No

20. Who do you tag? Angie, Lindsay, Chanel, and Katie
